    Unhappy HELP!! MS Exchange backup

    Hi

We've had our Win NT v4 Server with Exchange 5.5 die on us today and we can't boot up.

We've connected the hard disk to another machine and we can browse to it.

The question is, can we save the mailboxes from the Exchange server and can these import into a later verison of Exchange?

Also, what would the filename and the location of these be?

Thank you very very much in advance!!

    Chris

I think the Microsoft tool called ExMerge is what you need.

This is from the read me file:

    Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program

    Developed by:
    Kali Buhariwalla,
    Microsoft Technical Support

    Summary

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program (ExMerge.exe) is a program that allows a Microsoft Exchange Administrator to extract data from mailboxes on a Microsoft Exchange Server and then merge this data into mailboxes on another Microsoft Exchange Server.

The program copies data from the source server into Personal Folders (.PST files) and then merges the data, in the Personal Folders, into mailboxes on the destination server.

The ability to merge data to and from an Exchange Server makes this program an invaluable tool with a variety of uses, especially during disaster recovery. The program can also replace existing data, instead of merging new data, if specified by the Administrator.

    Hope this is helpful.
