    a drive not working

    whenever i have a floppy in the drive and double click on the a drive it says please insert a disk into the drive even tho there is one in there please help

    Confirm that the floppy disc being used is not defective by testing it/them on another verified working system.

    Double check the CMOS settings for the floppy drive.
    Double check the cables for the floppy drive for contact and correct orientation.

    ive tried many different floppies, and i made sure the cables are all connected, there is power to the drive, but it doesnt make the usual noise when the computer starts up, and how do i check the cmos to see if the floppy is being recognized or what not?

    ok i had a round ata cable for my floppy but i pout in a flat one and it is working now so i guess the rounded one was just messed up
