Changing AGP in BIOS

I bought a 32MB 2X AGP graphics board. Trying to install it, when I reboot the monitor stays in 'Power Saving' mode (i.e. total darkness). So, I took a look in the BIOS (AMI) and under Advanced Setup the AGP is set to 4X. I pressed the help button, and the 'Available Options' box popped up - which just says
4X
2X
1X

and, of course, 'Press any key to continue'. My question: How can I change the AGP from 4X to 2X so I can run this card???

Have you tried arrowing down to highlight the AGP setting then press <enter> to see if it offers a menu with the other settings? Not that familiar with AMI,but my Award bios's offer to change it this way. Instructions on how to access sub menu's should be at the bottom of window(or top )...

The reason I mentioned the 'press any key' thing, is 'cause that's all it will do. The moment I press any key, the 'Options' box closes. In other words, I can't select anything. I thought perhaps there was a way of changing to 2X....key commmands are out of the question, apparently!

This just doesn't sound right at all.

If you can't use the keys for 'any' commands in bios, i'd suspect problems with the EEPROM. Might try clearing CMOS and see if that would set it right. Only thing i can think of at the moment...
