hi all, every time i try to install some games i get a crc error.
The error report is crc error (game name) file does not match the .cab file, plz contact the system vendor.
I have tried a full format today and i still get the problem.
Any idea what it can be?
Like i say its only certain games like splinter cell and planetside and vice city, i have no trouble with soldier of fortune 2.

Disable DMA for your CD-ROM drive in Device Manager.
If that does not work, then the installation CD's may be defective.

You are welcome.
And thanks for posting back to tell us that the problem is fixed.
DMA stands for Direct Memory Access, and it allows drives(HD, CD-ROM, CD-RW, etc.) to write to and read from the memory without having to go thru the CPU.
This in turn frees up the CPU to do other tasks, and helps the system to run faster and more efficiently.
Some programs do not like DMA, and it has to be disabled for them to be properly installed.
It's possible that it may have been enabled after the affected programs were initially installed.
