Question No Sound, can't find the correct Driver or something? (Windows 2003)

I just load Windows 2003 onto a 10 GB HDD.
The Motherboard is a ASUS A7N266-E with a ACR-A6CH Audio card, shows as Lagacy Audio Drivers under Device Manager. In the Control Panel (CP)/Sound and Audio Devices/Volume tab, all options are grayed out. Under the Audio tab, things show to be set at Modem #0 with no other options. Window XP driver doesn't seem to work and if I try to play a sound file, I get an error (no audio device found).

Anyone have any clues where I can find the correct driver or one that will work? The ASUS site doesn't have it, and the ASUS site forum seems to have closed down.

    Thanks

    Windows Audio Service is Enabled.

Did you try the drivers at the bottom of this page?

BTW, I've not heard of Windows 2003 yet. Is there a new OS on the market?

I already tried that page you refereed me to on the ASUS site, no workie.

Ah Windows 2003, another name it goes by is Windows Server 2003. It's pretty much an OS, but with all the added server stuff. It usually goes by Windows 2003, or at least I've commonly seen it referred to that a lot. I've had the disc for a couple months and finally got the time to test it out for a run. No Sound is my only problem, though not a very serious one.

    Thanks,

I think you will like that OS, it is very stable, fast, and runs just like Windows 2000 Server, but with the look and feel of Windows XP. Only thing, it is fast, unlike XP...
I have used it for a few months now. You will never have to reboot it unless you install new software, or patches. Extremely stable...
    Great Operating System.

"Windows Audio Service" depends on both "Plug and Play" and "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)". Do you have both of them enabled?

Yes sir, bot are enabled though RPC was set @ manual, I went and set it to Auto still no go.

In the Device Manager it shows to have no conflicts with the Audio Driver. I do have 3 showing that do, though I'm not sure what those are.

    Working on it now...

    Thumbs up

I finally got the sound to work, though it really don't make any sense, but what does.

I had to install the System Management Bus driver, first.
Then I installed the Sound/Audio drivers, rebooted.
Then went to Device Manager and had it search for the drivers again on the disc. (It went something like that. ) Anyways that finally worked, SM Bus had to be first...

Thanks everyone for the help and time you showed me.

Since you guys just installed 2003, I thought you might be interested in knowing that Microsoft will have a TechNet Webcast tomorrow called "Introduction to Windows Server 2003". I think it's free, but you have to enroll. It's from 10am - 11:30am PST.
