LPT1 Port problem
May be this is not something to worry about, but I think maybe it is. Problem is I switched Printers and uninstalled an Epson, but device manager, and print pop up (when I start to type something) always shows Epson LPT1 port. How do I get that out of the system. I have tried regedit to remove it and add/remove, but as soon as I reboot the 'puter discovers the Epson again.
Any help appreciated.

Is your new printer set up as Default? If so, does your new printer emulate the Epson?

You probably still have some of the Epson printer software loading at startup. A list of the programs that are running just after booting would be helpful. You could also check Device Manager in Safe Mode to see if there are still drivers for the printer of an Epson LPT port showing.

LPT1 Port ...Problem solved.
Thanx for the responses. The Canon became contrary so I solved it - kinda - I reinstalled the Epson. Actually, it (Canon) had been printing, but began having some color deficiency - so - I'll use the Epson. One thing common to the printers is that the ink cartridges are too costly. Does anyone know of any of these on-line ink cartridge offers (of 75% off, etc.) that give satisfactory replacement ink cartridges?
Anyway, thanks again for the responses.

I can't really help you there. You are very right that the ink cartridges are high priced. I decided to use an old dot matrix printer for most purposes and have a color jetprinter for special jobs.

I have used compatable inks for my Epson for yonks and never had any problems. Compatable colour cartridges for my Epson Stylus Colour 760 are less than a fiver compared with nearly £20 for the Epson ones

re:GeraldXX
Thanx for the response - however - for us 'Mericans - what is a 'fiver' and how much is the conversion 1.99 (pound) for shipping in dollar amount. May be you are trying to get me to actually learn some money conversion. That's ok. I have added the website to favorites for future use since I just purchased a cartridge already, and don't need it for now, but these cartridges don't last too long, as we know.
Again, your post was interesting and I appreciate it. Thanks, Norm69

Ooops - I had forgotten about the War of Independence. A fiver (£5) is about $8!
But you don't need to buy from the UK, there are plenty of US firms doing compatible epson cartridges, as a search on google (epson compatible) shows.
For example
http://766.us/start.php
has colour cartridges for the Epson Stylus Colour 760 at $4.95
I know that purists say that compatibles are not so good - but I can never spot the difference, and I use my printer for lots of photgraphs.
Happy hunting!!!
