Cannot Clear Passwords in AutoComplete Section

Hi. I have the home version of XP. Whenever I choose the option to clear my stored passwords in the AutoComplete section of IE6-sp1, the arrow turns into an hourglass and gets stuck, which to me means nothing is happening. When I go to close out the AutoComplete window, I get a message that says something to the effect that rundll32 is not responding. Can anyone help me out on this? Thanks.

I've seen somthing like this happen when someone has tried to delete their temporary internet files. They had over 250Mb of them - with their machine, it hadn't crashed it simply took a very long time becuase of the volume of files to be deleted. Task manager would report that it was not responding, but if you left it, it would actaully sort itself out.

Alternatively have a look at the following file location

c:\documents and settings\yourprofilename\local settings\temporary internet file (and the likes....) but I would go with being patient especially if it is a long time since you last rebult the machine and a long time since you last did this cleaning up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I let it run for about a half of an hour, but it I still have the same problem. My temporary internet files folder is set at 200 mb.

    200Mb seems high.

    Mine is set at 5Mb

With a high setting like that you'd be cacheing lots of pages and thus you might not get the latest version of pages etc.

I cleared out my temporary internet files folder and set it to be only 5 mb. I then tried to clear all passwords and I still have the same problem.
