Fuelm@n--I do not think that is the Windows Update URL any longer, but it will get you there by redirect. (The actual URL is
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp )
So that is not your problem.
As has been mentioned your AV program could be blocking you. So could a firewall or using a proxy server. And you have to have ActiveX control settings at Enable (or Prompt) to use WinUp. (Put WinUp into your Trusted Sites to accomplish that most easily.) I cannot remember if Windows Script Host is also required, though I see jenae feels you do need it.

I understand the blank screen problem is occuring only at the WinUp site. Otherwise you could also look here
