make a video cd out of a divx movie
Can this be done i have converted avi's with i think it was nero or easy cd creator5 getting 6 tomorrow .
I want to play this movie in my home dvd player.

Assuming this is a legitimate video that you either already own, -or- it is copyright-free, then here is what you could do...
Use a program like VirtualDub to break the video into several segments that are less than an hour long,
Then use a program like TMpegEnc to convert each video segment into VCD format,
Then use Nero or any decent burning program to burn each segment onto a blank CD-R or R/W disc
Both VirtulDub and TMpegEnc are free programs that you can find online.

you must have the codex's installed on your machine prior

ok i have the divx file 600mb and want to make a vcd out of it.
my question is will nero sucessfully decode the divx file and make it into a vcd ?
i also have the divx codec on my pc

"Step 2: Uncompressing the audio" is very important. Like the article says, the encoding takes a long time, so you might want to run it overnight while you're sleeping. TMpegEnc usually works faster for me than Nero for encoding, and seems to keep the audio and video in sync better.
