Cable Modem Speed and Wireless Router

I am going to buy a wireless router. The current B and Draft G standards are the only ones i'm looking at. If my cable modem speed only goes up to at most 2000 Kbps, then would that be my limiting factor of speed? Then does it not really matter which router I buy (802.11b or draft G) since the speed would never even be 802.11b's 11 Mbps? I am still trying to get a wireless router that can file transfer with MSN messenger, and will probably settle for a microsoft router since hopefully their own will support Messenger.

    I might try:

    Thank you

If you had a 2 centimeter main water pipe to your house, hooking up anything larger, such as an 11 centimeter garden hose, wouldn't make the water flow any faster. It can only flow so fast through the 2 centimeter restriction.

If wireless internet is your only issue...then no....going 11 mbps will not really help much...but if you are going to be doing file transfers between machines...then by all means go 54mbps you will thank me for it.
