    Question temp folder

    C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Local Settings/Temp

can this temp folder be deleted, or rather, can the contents be deleted? it appears many files i downloaded and deleted are still in here, like a few email program patchs and updates, and just common software setups. will it be bad to delete the contents, because its about 73 mbs of useless junk?

    ¿?

Hi you can probably safely remove them, however I use System Mechanic to scan for obsolete and junk files. It usually removes most of this folder however it retains some files. My method has been to create a new folder called Safety Storage and I move all the contents of the temp folder to it then I delete the contents of the temp folder. After a 30 day period I delete the contents of the Safety Storage folder, This way if I needed any files from temp I would have them. So far I have on a few occasions, so better to be safe then sorry.

You can delete the contents in the temp folder in the \Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings directory and be just fine. You might find the "Maintaining temporary files" in the link below. I think if you delete the TEMP and TMP user variable this will prevent files to be stored in the directory, but I'm not sure to be exact. Maybe somebody here knows.
