Question View as Web page VANISHES!

Alright, I confess, mainly because I can't figure out HOW this is happening, but it happens so irregularly, and with such a long interval between events, that trying to figure out why it's doing this is plain annoying. Mainly because the fix resets ALL folders.

Mainly, I'll find that the Web View gets turned off on ALL folders, and I didn't do anything to the machine between last night and this morning. (24/7) When I left last night, everything was working OK, all folders displayed the Web View. This morning, Surprise, Surprise, Surprise, no Web View anywhere. Any bloodhounds here offering any pointers?

cwg01--I do not think there is a real "explanation". It just is something Windows does from time to time.
When it happens, I guess you know that you can again set View|as Web Page for one window, and while that first window is still open click, click on Start|Settings|Folder Options|View tab| "Like Current Window"| Apply| OK. Close Windows Explorer and reopen. Now all windows should be back to the Web Page view.

It's one of those lil' quirks with Win9x that makes us all so fond of Billie Bob and his programmers over in Redmond,Wa. I've gotten into the habit of going into folder options each time after i do a defrag, scandisk, or do a lot of folder hopping. 'Cause you just got'ta know it will revert to "classic" or the web page option will revert on it's own. Other than that, it's like Jim says...

Well, yeah, I suppose, though it does get annoying for I've gotten into setting quite a few folders with unique views, (date / extension / name / position) and every time this I gotta reset, OH-THE-PAIN
I know there's a registry key which stores all the information W98 uses to display the folder,
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams
But importing this key is not a sure thing, there may have been 'quicks' introduced into the settings which DON'T get overwritten.
BTW: Ridgerunr, lets see you design a graphical OS.

cwg01,,Do you honestly think it was "designed" by Mr. Gates and his cohorts? If so, i suggest you take a look at a made-for-TV movie called "Pirates of Silicon Valley"! A movie which,by the way, as many believe, has been squelched as much as possible by the offenders...
