Now this is weird. windows explorer preview pane disabled.

Okay the only thing I can tell is by downloading the latest security patch for i.e6. (just issued very recently) has somehow disabled my preview in windows explorer.

Now before you all start. Yes I did the reg edit to restore the key values to all the image file catagories.

still no joy.. but ms says the security patch is important.

    my default viewer is irfanview.

    You just found your problem.

    well kinda obvious ya think?

I removed the update from cntl panel.

Would reinstalling i.e.6 correct the problem as they are interlaced? Also the "view as webpage" option is not working, this should evoke the preview pane, so this part of the problem. perhaps a dll is corrupt?

Hi Ms patch's are not always to blame they are not to know what third party apps are on your system and these can sometimes be the cause of the problem.Start /run and type regsvr32 shell32.dll see if this fixes it.

Well I tried the reg hack and the regsvr32 shell32.dll

The second a box came up "with shell32 loaded but Dlregistry server entry point could not be located. Try Pview instead to detect the error."

Hurrah.. finally got it fixed!! As I assumed the "view as web page" was disabled.

This restores the default registry entries for Web View, though it doesn't restore the Shell's registry entries also used in Webview. (I restored those and also found a zip .reg file to do that) Webvw also contains the htt template and graphic files used in Web View and this command will extract them.

    start button> run

    regsvr32.exe webvw.dll
    [enter]

I'm not sure if the settings will stick next time I reboot. havng to click on view as web page (i.e. xmas photos) each time I click on it. I know there is a fix for that I just need to go into favs and find it.
