    Norton's Utility still hanging around...

I uninstalled Utility for XP. However, there are still signs of it!

For instance - when I run a cleaning program - it says my recycler is still protected. However, right clicks do not indicate such.

    It finds a path D:Recycler/Nprotect

How the heck to I get that off?

    TIA

Not a Norton user or fan, but I've seen a lot of posts over the years saying Norton's site has instructions for uninstalling their STUFF. Or, just do a file search for any left over files and delete them.

The Manual Uninstall Instructions at the link below should help you get rid of the remnants.

That is one of the reasons I will not put Nortons on my machine, that and the last time I used Nortons it trashed my hard drive. For an outfit that is supposed to help clean your system, it is ridiculous that it cannot even clean itself.

    It did - thx!

BS though that you have to go through all that crap. As the next poster said - if they cannot get their own installer to be good how good can the actual prog be?

    Hi all,

    My Nickle's worth:

I would nominate all Norton and AOL software for a 1st place tie in the catagory for "Best PC crashing and uninstallable c**p software!"

Roxio software gets the runner up prize!

When you uninstall that Norton stuff I have found that they leave the "Live Update" on the computer and it will take a seperate uninstall of that.

I would add anything from McCrappie to that list.
If you think AOL sucks just try MSN to see really bad service.

    Stubborn Norton

    Hi

Have you tried to remove the remainder in Safe mode - sometimes this gets rid of things left over.

You should also clean out the registry of all folders etc that belong to him. Then use REg. First aid to clean up after.

    He hogs everything.....
