    Question Macromedia Dreamweaver MX

I'm Just wondering if anyone has worked with this software? If so, did you like the layout of it and is it worth the high price tag? I build web sites for businesses and I was just wondering if it would be helpful or not. Thanks for any input you might have!

Dreams are made of this !!!

    Hi Attagirl42

I have only touched on Dreamweaver .... it is a very very powerful piece of software.
I know several web designers who would never use anything else - they absolutely swear by DW. It seems one of it's main strengths is the ability to produce very proffesional, efficient websites which are coded extremely well......they also have much smaller file sizes than some other programs - which helps to make sites load very quickly and smoothly ( dependant of course on content size / format)

I found its interface a little intimidating at first, but the topical help was excellent, and there are a multitude of tutorials out there on the net.

    Hi There Gixer!

Hey, Thanks for your post! Just what I was looking for! I've also got the chance to enroll in a quick course that teaches Macromedia Dreamweaver MX if I should go ahead and buy it. Sounds like what I've been looking for. Thanks again for your input!!! Have a Great Saturday!!!

There's a 30-day trial available for download at www.macromedia.com - given the price tag I'd strongly suggest you have a quick look at it before purchasing.

Have you used any version of DW before? What are you using now?

You may be able to pick up an earlier version for a lot less than you would pay for the MX version. Dreamweaver 4 is very good, I still prefer it over MX as I find MX can run slow on a lower spec system and the functionality is'nt much different.

Do get a demo first (see tuttle's post) you may not like it and you don't want to waste any money finding that out.

Here is CNET's review. It should be enough to scare off most people who are not "code-savvy developers".

If your not scared off, Amazon has a used version for $242.

Wow! Thanks everyone for all the good replies! I can always count on the members here at Virtual Dr.! I believe I will do more reading and studying now and try the trial copy and see what I think and take up the offer I have on the course and check out that avenue and go from there! Once again......Thanks! You all have been a great help and I appreciate it! Have a Great Sunday!

Lucked out, got the book and found the cd in the factor sealed envelope at a yard sale for $10 US. It was DW 4.0 too. So look around and as a student. . .
