Internet Connection
I have an unusual problem. On a Windows 2000 Pro. Computer my Internet connection never shows more than 28.8 Kbps, but it seems faster. On the same phone line and wall jack an XP Pro Computer always shows around 44 Kbps and it seems to be about the same speed as the 2000 Pro.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That figure is only the initial connection speed, it has nothing to do with the download speeds for the rest of the session. The best thing to do would be to find a site that can benchmark your download speeds, then if they're more or less the same in 2K & XP, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm afraid I've only got URL's for broadband benchmarking, but I'm sure someone else knows some for dial-up.
Nick.
