    Firewire Access to 2nd computer

Is it possable to hook two computers together to access a file and transfer it through firewire? I want to retrieve an avi from a laptop runnming ME with my XP Pro comp.I have a 6 pin to 4 pin firewire for loading video and the laptop has a 4 pin hookup for it's firewire. Suggestions or comments anyone? Is this feasable?

It's certainly feasible as far as XP is concerned. It will set up a firewire connection without any effort on your part (if you look in Control Panel>Network Connections, you should find it listed as "1394 connection"). I'm not sure about the ME end of things, though, I haven't used that in well over 2 years.

As this is a temporary setup to access a file that is problematic I am hopeing to access the laptop as if it were a removable hard drive.

There is a USB cable that will let you copy files from one computer to another. Sorry I can't remember the name of it, since I bought it a couple of years ago. I would think Firewire would let you do the same, but not sure? I have a firewire drive that is 80 gigbytes and have never had a problem with it. They seem to be pretty cheap now. Maybe you can get one of those? They are hot swapable so you could hook it up to the laptop and do your thing then take it to the computer and hook it up there (plug it in) as well. Might be quicker/easier?? Good Luck!
