    aol broadband and p2p networks

not sure if this is the right forum but here goes.
    system
    celeron 633mhz
    384 sdram
    lg dvd cd rewriter
    samsung cd rom

ive just gone to aohell broadband, when using winmx to download music my system becomes very unstable. i.e the pointer becomes very eratic and i loose my connection quite a lot.
ive set up the incoming and outgoing bandwidth settings as advised but still no luck,,, could this be an aol problem or is my processor not good enough.
ive only got 1 phone socket and connected to this is a sky tv box and a tele/fax machine,,,, its a bt line the phone/fax runs through an npower box ,, maybe there is a conflict with the n/power box???
ive tried aol live help but they were as much use as a chocolate kettle.
i never had this problem when using a 56k conection,,,
any help would be much appreciated, i beleive you people will be uch mor help than aol.... thanks in advance

You might find that certain ports are being restricted or blocked to some extent by your ISP I`m sure other users of this ISP may shed light on this subject i.e. BT in the UK block port 25 to stop certain services being housed by users.

thanks for the reply 104456 . iv changed the ports and the downlods and uploads are going fine ,,, maybe i need to reduce the upload and download ratios to cure the problem.
i can use the internet with no problem when i dont use winmx, but i woul like to use both together.... thanks rfor your help
