    winsock file problems

    I bought a used Compaq, running WIN 98 SE and i am having a terrible time connecting to the internet. I spent 1.5 hours with Roadrunner troubleshooting everything, and they think it is a winsock file problem possibly corrupt files. So how can i fix those? I don't have any Win 98 disks cause i bought it used and it had nothing with it. Any suggestions?

    I have another computer on the same cable modem, using a router, and it is fine. The previous computer i had before the Compaq connected fine using the same setup, so it has to be something with the configuration of this Compaq. Any help would really be appreciated!

    If you believe it to be a winsock problem, perhaps try this fix?

    Well, I tried that and it took all of 5 minutes to fix what three other people could not fix in 1.5 hours. THANK YOU!!!
