    Can I uninstall "Developer"

I hope I'm describing the following properly. If I made it too confusing, I appologise.

When I first installed OS X, I also installed "Developer tools", by curiosity. I now realised, that I don't need it and I'd rather delete it to create more space in my HD.
This question might sound strange at first, but the reason I want to get rid of the "developer tools" is because I've only got 10 GB of HD space and only 4 GB are free, and I don't keep any personal data in the computer, it's all backed up. 4 GB of free HD is not too bad but every little bit I can add is a bonus.
I know I could get another external HD, but at the moment it's not an option. I have to manage what I've got.

I tried to delete the folder "Developer" in: Machintosh HD > Developer
but it doesn't let me do it. It tells me that the operation could not be completed because the item is owned by the root.

I've got "Mantain" which I use to keep my Power Mac regularly "MANTAINED", of course. I could use "Mantain" to delete the "Developer" folder but I need to be sure that it is safe to do it, and what shell I delete ? the "Developer" folder, or only the "Tools" inside it ?

    Thank you in advance

Since I have to reply to myself, here it goes......

Well, I've deleted "developer" using "Mantain" and everything is running fine.

I was only worrying for nothing.

Firstly, sorry that no one else replied to your post.
For reference later on, if you put the mac OS X cd in and run install from there you can uninstall/install certain parts of Mac OS.
Hope that it is not too late to be of any use
