Motherboard not recognising cpu???
Hi all,
I have currently upgraded my cpu and motherboard,
I purchased an amd 2700+ xp and an MSI KT4V motherboard,
Both are installed correctly and working, but the motherboard is not recognising my new cpu as 2700+,
When i boot up the bios is seeing a 1500+ how do i change this to 2700+ i have looked through the manual and it is baffleling me? (which isnt quite hard!.......noobie!!!)
I have also looked through the bios itself and looked for anything even resembling a cpu change! with no avail!
Help me Please guys! I have had so much trouble with this new upgrade!
Thanks in advance
Dave!

Hi Dave,
I'd hazard a guess that it is one of two things:
1) A BIOS option that changes the FSB to a higher setting. Such as from 100 to 133. (Or even 166?) Or,
2) A jumper on the motherboard that must be changed so as to run at a higher FSB.

Did you set your clock at 133 on your mobo?
its a very normal thing to forget when you build a new system since all mobos are at 100mhz by default.
It's in bios under frequency/voltage settings

Your Athlon XP+ should be running at about 2134Mhz, which suggests that you haven't got the correct bus speed set up for your motherboard.
In BIOS setup, you need to change the FSB to 133. It looks like it is currently set to 100.
( you're typing too quick for me, Limerick and Train)
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

You don't necessarily need your RAM to be running at PC2700/DDR333. It will run just fine with the PC2100 you currently have. You might want to drop in on the MSI forums site and check out what their opinions are. It is a great forum site. Go to
http://www.msi.com.tw/index.htm
and under E-service click into the forums and register. Look for the Via Socket A forum.
I know I can figure this out with a little help from my friends!
