I'm new and I want to learn

This is one of the most asked questions, but here we go again.

I am wanting to get away from MS. To this end I have Debian installed on my fairly old 233Mhz - 90Mb PC. I am quite impressed with the fairly simple install and amazing graphics of X-Windows & KDE.

BUT. Having lived with MS for 10 years, where do I start?

Simple things like configuring devices - adding/removing hardware, calling my ISP and using the Web.

Is there a good online site or a good intro book that can be recommended.

I do like the office suite as well - but I'm going to go for Open Office as I like the small size of saved files.

I know this will only give me 'opinions' but I do want to stay with Linux without too much aggravation.

    Cheers.
I'm bald, but I still have a hairline fracture !!
