Chkdsk question

1) - when Running Chkdsk from the C Drive Properties, if the ' Automatically fix Errors' is left unchecked, what happens if an Error is detected ?

2) - is there any Chkdsk log file anywhere - like we had Scandisk.log on 98\ME? - I know there's a Summary in the Event Viewer but that only repeats what's on the Blue Screen during the process
