    Angry Wallpaper won't go away!!!!

This should not be a problem, really, it shouldn’t! But … a friend (honest, not me) added a wallpaper from the Hallmark sight then decided she didn’t want it. I know how to delete wallpaper … the whole bit about going to the control panel, display, etc … but but but .. it’s not there ??? I did a search for hallmark, thinking I’d just delete the file, and two came up, but they were cookies. I’m at a lost; I even tried to re-create what she did, hoping that I could then find the file using the date. Now, she has two card type wallpapers on her desk top, and she’s not a happy camper. We just drug them over to the side, hoping that someone else may have had the same problem and figured it out. It’s either buried wayyyyyy deep, or something. She has AOL and uses a Compaq if that makes any difference. (she has Windows XP). I noticed that the download is still at the Hallmark.com, and is the “January Calendar”. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Uuugh, why would someone put that on their desktop? Okay, I'm over that now. Here's some ideas

Assuming she followed the directions from Hallmark, the file should be called 'Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp'

And similarly, the desktop wallpaper now selected in the 'background' tab will be the innocently labeled 'Internet Explorer Wallpaper'. Maybe you just didn't see it or maybe there's a problem with the OS. But when you say:
she has two card type wallpapers on her desk top
This makes me think that she is using some sort of 1) desktop manager that handles files differently than explorer or 2) active desktop and each of the pictures are active elements. If this is true you'll have to open up the desktop manager or right click on the desktop and deselect 'show web content'. Then show her how to select 'set as wallpaper' so she doesn't have to call you again
