Tell us a bit more about your computer and what kind of connection you have please. I use WinMX 3.31 along with the opennap servers via NapMX, am on cable and have great results with it. Need to learn how to set it up properly tho'.. Good sources for learning are:

    http://dengo.batcave.net/gettingstarted.html

and the forum is here: http://www.winmxcommunity.com/

You can get the opennap servers here:
    http://perso.wanadoo.fr/speedfire/napmx/down.html

Use a secondary connection, set your bandwidth priorities properly and your cueing at about 6Down & 3Ups and you should be good to go...

As to your last question, yes,,there "are" other programs out there such as KaZaA. And a version of it called Kazaalite with the spyadware supposedly removed. Personally,,i would not touch either version with a ten foot pole!

Won't go into details here,,but this program caused my Daughters PC to go totally butts up. Mainly from a nasty installed by KaZaA called new.net. There is a temp fix for the damage this and other junk does and i applied it. But to be on the safe side,i did a complete wipe and re-install of the OS for them. Needless to say, they no longer use KaZaA,,and do just fine with MX...

I've been using Kazaa for probably a yr and a half, and I've NEVER gotten a virus from dl'ing a song. Of course you have to be smart about it. If you search for a popular song and you see 30 users with the file size 4500kb, then you can bet your ass that is not a virus. However, if while doing that same search you see those 30 users with that file and another user (same file name) size is 45kb, dont be a dummie and dl that 1, its a virus. Just a little common sense is all we can ask. I'm not gonna say I've never gotten a virus from kazaa because I have.

if I get a virus AV does its job. In my opinion, the Pros outweigh the Cons. Kazaa is the fastest and best file sharing site on the net. Just my opinion :-)

SoreLewzer.. your virus comments are valid but please, in future, do not suggest downloading software from Kazaa.. it's illegal and is contrary to our policy at Virtual dr.- fink
