Crucial/micron memory. Same thing?
Are these brands exactly the same thing or different quality level from the same company?

As far as I'm aware Crucial is just Micron's own marketing division. I'm 99% sure it's the same memory. I've used Crucial for years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

SuperSparks, thanks. I'm wanting to get 2 128MB sticks of Crucial DDR RAM, however I'm having trouble finding a good deal. All I've found available (at a good price) are 256MB and higher. However I've found a local store selling Micron at a good price and the size I want.

The entire memory module may not be completely manufactured by Micron.
A number of vendors sell modules stating Micron but they neglect to state that it is only the Micron chips in use and not the PCB.
Cheers.

Got a Best Buys near ya (or you can order it online with free shipping)? They have a very good deal on 256mb of Crucial PC2100 this week. $62.99 plus a $30 mail-in rebate. Memory is here, rebate is here (3rd one down).

DrMDJ, thanks for the heads up on that. The web site was sold out but I was able to get to a store that had 2 left. Great price!

Crucial is just a division of Micron. I couldn't tell you exactly how much of a stick of RAM is truly Micron, but I have a good feeling that it's all of it. At any rate, you can safely expect the same quality from both.
Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow.

Glad it worked out DVOM. Ya have to act fast when deals like that get offered, people pounce on them and the stores get cleaned out quick.
