Angry Page Cannot be displayed plus other problems.

Some pages refuses even try to go look for page online: "what? your homepage in somewhere online? nah dude, forget it, im not going there. here, why don't i pull up a local page i defiinately exisit - ta da! Page Cannot Be Found! ain't that a beauty?"
    When I try to access
    www.rr.com
    www.roadrunner.com
    www.twcnyc.com
    tv.yahoo.com (http://64.58.76.252/ number works though)
within 1 second I get a DNS error. Now I know that certain people will be able to access these sites. By the way how many people use mozilla netscape and are you able to access the sites there. I read and other people that rr sites you can't access if you are on Earthlink cable.
Also every day explorer keeps crashing. It's fine until I try to close a open window or try to close Windows Explorer only if I leave it open for a while then try to close it.
Plus to make matters worse when I try to run disk cleanup it just sits there, stalls and does not respond. I left it running for a half hour and it just sits there doing nothing and then I have to use task manager to close it.

reddice--A few ideas here--some of which will apply to XP, also
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q241344
It's at the bottom of the list, but check disabling your firewall (if you have one) first (since that is easy to do).
Also, the number two item refers to C:\Windows\HOSTS file(not HOSTS.sam). Make sure those sites are not in there.

Hi just settle down take a deep breath and we will see if we can help you. For the sites problem (I can access no problem)you should do a repair of IE:- control panel add/remove programs IE,run the repair option, after this go to windows explorer and do a search for host files, you can open them in notepad look for one that is dated differently to the others, see if the sites you are having difficulty with are mentioed there. If so delete that host file, do not delete any of the others.(make sure show hidden files and folders is checked)
Disk cleanup make sure you disable any AV programs or firewall before running also turn off screen saver if you still have problems try running it in safe mode.
Error reporting back to MS if you do not want to be bothered by this(although it does alert you to potential problems) you can turn this off:-

    Regedit4

    [HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
    "IEWatsonEnabled"=dword:OOOOOOOO

See how you go let us know.

Disabled autoprotect same thing hard drive spins says Scanning: Compress old files and then hard drive stops and nothing is happing it just sits there.

Also I went to other bbs and it says that earthlink cable subscribers can't access the rr site so I am not alone however tv.yahoo.com can only be accessed using its number site.
