    bios update by cdrom

is it possible to update the bios by burning to a bootable cdr?? My floppy controller malfunctioned and I've gone through 3 floppy drives and they all claim that there is no disk in the floppy even though I know that there are some files on the floppy that I inserted.

Are there any bios updates that can be installed through Windows??

I can't say I have done it but the logic sounds alright. If you burn your ROM Flash program to CDR then access your BIOS and make the CD drive the first drive that the BIOS sees \ looks at I think this may work for you. As for your BIOS Updates through Windows, HP\Compaq has just recently (less than 6 months) come out with BIOS upgrades for some of their systems that are executed first in Windows then as you reboot the flash is executed. Probably not what your looking for but there are flash utilities that work from Windows.

If you still have the drives I was thinking they are not bad it could be that ther are not connected properly as the floppy cable goes inverted not the way IDE goes.
The worst problem is not having one, is how to solve it.

Mobo manufacturer must support such a feature.

went to a local computer store over the weekend and got a $20 replacement floppy drive that now works, so now I can flash the bios if need be. I was just asking in case the floppy controller on my motherboard might be bad.
