memory 368mb, but resources 32%?
I do not understand why I seem to have a problem with 'low resources' and computer operating slow with 368 mb memory. I have an ATHLON 1GHz with hard disk space used of 7GB and available = 33 GB. I have run scandisk, disk defragmenter and used Mcafee's performance optimizer and quick clean. Is there something I am missing that I can do to speed the system up? (Lastly, the C:/ is partitioned, also.) Any help greatly appreciated. Norm69

Hi Norm69
Perhaps go into msconfig, and under the start up tab, uncheck any unneccessary things from running at start up.
(start...run...type in: msconfig click ok...and check under the start up tab)
Here are two links to tell you what those items are:
Msconfig entries

Recent and updated virus scan?
If not....Maybe start with one of the free online virus scanners then?
Grisoft
Housecall
Panda
Symantec
And for Trojans.....might I suggest:
Tauscan
Checked for Spyware ?
Dusted your computer out lately with canned air?

resources vs memory
For Daizy: The suggestions have helped, but like most everything in this computer stuff one thing leads to another - I have taken some programs out of startup. Now I am reading all about resources vs memory in a link in one of the responses. One thing, I really appreciate the suggestions, cause as we all know - trying to do all these different functions available on our systems is quite a chore. Anyway, yes the suggestions and links definitely helped. Thanks, again to you and all who provided the responses. Norm69
