    Windows Media Player

    when I try to play an audio cd in my Windows Media Player,it restarts my pc.I can play MP3s I already have,but I can't play an audio cd.I can use music match jukebox but not media player.What can I do to fix my Windows Media Player?

    Hi Z-man and welcome to virtual dr..

    I'm sure someone will be along soon to try and help you out but in the meantime perhaps you can tell us a couple of things.. which version of WMP and which OS are you using?

    Have you recently upgraded or added any new software or hardware?

    What version of Windows are your using ie OS ?

    Well, WMP 9 is window's latest candidate release program which means basically that it's very new and it's a beta (trial) which also means that there probably aren't too many people who have it yet and those who do are basically Microsoft's guinea pigs to see what problems there may be. It's unsupported by Microsoft as well which is going to make it more difficult to find out what could be wrong.

    Let's wait and see what suggestions others come up with.

    Does XP have a System Restore capability - if so are you able to go back to a time before the WMP9 installation ?

    yes it does have system restore capability.

    And System Restore is the only way to get rid of WMP9 beta so do that before you install any more software.

    I believe the final version is due for release in early Jan 2003.
