voodoo 3 2000 + white screen also no safe mode :)
hi whenever i try to install my voodoo 3 2000 agp into my mates machine just as it gts past the xp home logo screen i get a white (sometimes blue and white) screen and the computer just stops responding so i take that out and the computer will reboot (with onboard graphics).
my question is has anybody else had this problem.
i have tried most of the directx 8.1 compatible underground drivers from voodoofiles etc.. but still no joy ( i install them with the onboard graphics).
while trying to install this card i thought aha i will try safe mode but whenever i try to get into safe mode it starts loading the drivers and will sit there for about 2 mins then just reboot itself does this with the onboard graphics and voodoo 3.
motherboard = matsonic 8308 (sis 730 chipset) and windows xp home edition.
Edit : i also installed the agp drivers but still no luck
i have only just pulled this card from a xp machine so i know it works with xp.
it could just be a incompatibility between the mobo and the v3 i will install 98 on another hdd later and try it just wondering if anybody has had and solved this problem.
thanx for your help mike

have you tried using the Upgrade Advisor on the XP install cd to see if your videocard is compatible with XP?? or you can download it from MS's site.

I have a Voodoo 4 4500 and the ONLY satisfactory driver setup I have found is this one:http://www.ansiblenetwork.com/tutori...nxp_3dfx.shtml
It is supposed to work with your 3000. It also gives you the full functionality of the 3dfx tools. It's kind of involved, but worth the effort.
Also, I would go to the BIOS and disable the onboard graphics before installing anything.

Hi guys thanx for the replys.
the voodoo 3 works with windows xp(has built in drivers for it ) as my dad was using it with xp until a few weeks ago when i bought him a gf4 .

the onboard graphics get disabled as soon as it detects there is a card in the agp slot.
