Question Bought Computer With XP Home on It

I have a couple of questions. I've recently bought a computer that is about 9 months old with XP home version on it. My first question is Can I change the registered owner to myself? I kind of doubt it, but I thought I would throw it out anyway. Second....I find that when I do a disk clean up on XP it shows me the amount of space it will clean up in KB's instead of MB's. Is this a XP thing or how the previous owner set it up? I had Windows 98 up till two weeks ago and XP is all new to me but I like it so far. I've had to go in and do alot of tweaking as the previous owner admitted she knew nothing about a computer and decided it was more trouble than it was worth. I had to run easy cleaner and ad aware and instal AVG and do alot of cleaning house just so I could navigate and see what was what. So, any help would be greatly appreciated as far as these questions. If I can change the measurements of file size, how do I do this? Oh....One more thing...Unfortunately, I have to use AOL here in the sticks as there is no other dial up that is a local connection. When I bring up Outlook express(I have my Hotmail configured to come through it) it brings up a prompt that there is already a connection to the internet and do I want to try and find it on this server or hang up and dial AMerica Online? I've used AOL for years and never ran into this problem with my other computer and I just click on find on this server and it works fine. Then it prompts me each time I open my outlook express, for my hotmail password. My windows 98 never did this. Is this a XP thing or a previous owner thing? I'm sorry to be so long winded, but as I said, I'm just curious and will appreciate any help! Thanks!

Instructions on how to change the registered owner's name can be found in MS KB 310441MS KB Article 310441.

As for the disk cleanup, my XP Home shows it in KBs, too, so it must be an XP thing.

Outlook Express and Internet Explorer share their connection settings so try going into Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Connections and checking "Never dial a connection"...since I assume you first have to log on with AOL's browser and don't need IE (and, by association, OE) to do any dialing for you. (I'm just guessing on this one since I've never used AOL)

Thank you for the link for changing the registered owner! I appreciate it! I do, however have the "Never Dial A Connection" Already clicked so I'll look around and see what I can do. I appreciate the help and the advice however!

    Still having probs?

    Your email prob:

YOu have associated an email account with a dial up account, either intentionally or not it dosen't matter, to resolve it you have to go into view the settigns of your email accounts within outlook. Once here select properties of the email account and under the connections tab simply click do not dial connection, or select the connection you always dial. It asks you whether you want to swicth because it is associated with dial up account that you are not currently using, therefore wants to swap because you told it to! Hope that makes sense, if not let me know

What was the other prob?!?! oh yeah, your hotmail password, again, look at the properties of the email account in outlook, there should be an option to click remember password. If that dosen't work then check your security levels, these are under Control Panel->Internet-> Security, if they are set to high then they may well force windows to forget your password!

    Hope that helped
