problem at startup

When I bootup system I get several error messages:
1 - missing nwlink.vxd. Is that netware?
2 - Unable to load dynamic link library.
3 - missing nwnp32.dll
4 - missing msnp32.dll microsoft network.
My question is - do I re install the msn internet cd, or, re-run the recovery disk for this HP puter?

Any additional help greatly appreciated. Norm69

Hi Norm69
Any chance you removed dial up networking? You might want to try uninstalling and reinstalling if so? Or, perhaps follow this link 's advice?

If you installed Dial-Up Networking, Dial-Up Adapter, or Virtual Private Networking and then cancel Setup while the Copying Files dialog box is displayed. The Dial-Up Networking files are not copied to the hard disk but the file names are added to the registry. When the computer is restarted, the files are requested and cannot be found.

To FIX:

NOTE: If you have previously set up Dial-Up Networking and have added items such as phone numbers, TCP/IP settings, and other protocols, record the information before you remove the Dial-Up adapter.

Do the same for Network Adapter properties information if a network adapter is listed in Network properties.

Remove and then reinstall Dial-Up Networking.

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Click the Windows Setup tab, and then click Communications.
Click Details, and then click to clear the Dial-Up Networking check box.

NOTE: If you receive the Ndiswan.vxd error message, click to clear the Virtual Private Networking check box only.

2. Click Close, click OK, then click Apply.

When you are prompted to restart Windows, do so.

3. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
Click the Windows Setup tab, and then click Communications.
Click Details, and then click to select the Dial-Up Networking check box.

NOTE: If you cleared the Virtual Private Networking check box in step 4, click to select it.

4. Click Close, and then click OK.

If you are prompted to restart Windows, do so.

5. If any additional protocols are necessary, add the protocols by using the Network tool in Control Panel.

Thanks for both responses. Daiszy was on the right track and
Murf's solution worked - the error messages at startup went away. I leave the Win95 'puter sit unused for periods of time, but it is still handy and I can play chess on it - and still have a better handle on it than on the WinME system on the other computer. Thanks again, Norm69.

Actually I did it myself once and remembered how I fixed it. It was Daizy's comment that got me thinking.
