unreal tournament 2003
has anyone ever had problems starting up UT2003?? I keep getting that stupid general protection fault. This happened to me when I reinstalled UT old version and I've never had problems before...running gf4mx 440 with the latest drivers, no irq conflicts, no overheating, powersupply is in good running order, latest directx, latest soundcard drivers, harddrive is always defragged, yet I keep getting those errors. Reinstalled after uninstalling and removing whatever registry entries were left behind. I've never had so many problems booting up since I did have the original UT installed with Tac Ops and Infiltration mods installed. I only removed original UT to make room for 4 other games.
I don't have problems starting Q3 arena and have always had success loading up different maps, skins and mods for it.
Has anyone had the gpf error message after doing a clean install of Win2k?? Not sure I want to purchase UT2k3 as I'm borrowing a friend's copy if it has this much trouble booting up.
Would enabling compatibility mode do anything??

The only time I've ever gotten a General protection fault of ANY kind is when I tried using one of those no-CD things...
But to be honest UT2k3 seems very buggy... My system does'nt like it and judging by Epics and Infogrames forums I'm not the only one...
UT is still the best anyway ...

Tjolly, your links don't really help much. I think I'm looking at a reinstall of Win2k. That'll probably be about a few months away. I thought I had deleted all remnants of previous drivers and cards since I used to have a gf2 mx 400 and a Radeon 8500 128mb.
I'm only hoping that Unreal Championship for xbox doesn't require to have 4 xboxes hooked up to play multiplayer instead of 4 players on 1 xbox and tv with split screen.
