Outlook 2002, receiving an attachment Question...

I received an attachment (extension .exe) Outlook 2002 gave me this warning... "Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:..."

How do I disable from getting the message and enable receiving such files? TIA ô¿ô

I don't know all the facts of your case, so I could be barking up the wrong tree, but here goes.

Please be VERY careful with attachments. There are a lot of bad things on the internet, ESPECIALLY attachments, that are very often identifiable as suspicious by the fact that they have funny-looking extensions, double extensions, or something like a program extension such as .exe where you were expecting an extension like .pdf, .doc, .bmp, or .gif.

On the other hand, if you really were expecting an executable file from a trusted source, and everything is always run through a virus scanner first, then I guess never mind.........

My work machine has the security patch installed and I do not have the authority to change that but I do know of a workaround. (I realize you are all set already but others may not be)

Have the sender rename the xxxx.exe to xxxx.doc, send the file, save it to the desktop and rename it back to xxxx.exe

It works very well. The trusted sender simply needs to include that instruction.
