We are upgrading a computer and need a suggestion for a video card. One that allows good games play. Thanks

A' bit more info on the hardware currently installed on the puter would help.
ATI cards are a pretty fair choice. There were driver install probs with them in the past, but if you get the latest driver upgrades from ATI, there should'nt be probs. Some to look at:

I'd suggest a DDR card myself...
Stupid question? No such thing!

I second that. ATI chipsets are - IMO - best price:value choice for gaming.
Doing quite a bit of RTS gaming myself - love the ATI Radeon 7500 or 8500 boards.
Nimo N152B (AMD R5, W11H) and plenty of other legacy systems :-)

Thanks guys. Just trying to figure out which is the best one. Do you have an opinion on the GEForce?

I just installed a Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 on my windows ME system. I am absolutely extatic about this card, it performs as well or better than they promised.
A lot of people seem to be having problems installing this card under windows ME. Including the people at PC Magazine. But having used GEforce video cards before, I trusted their promise that it would work in ME.
Some people that posted even stated that they changed their OS's just to be able to install the card.
Fact is: You have to follow their installation instructions to the letter, it is just not a next next next type of installation and requires two or three reboots.

hello,
I recomend a Ati Radeon 9000 for just home gaming and a Ati Radeon 9700 for all out gaming! Ati 9000 pro 128 meg ddr at newegg is $139.00 and a Ati radeon 9700 pro 128 meg 8X Agp at newegg is $344.00. Note I don't Believe the 9700 comes with drivers for Win 98 SE.
If it ain't broke, you arn't trying hard enough!!
