Missing Start up file
I recently got rid of a home page hijacker called "Istarthere"
When I turned of my computer and turned it back on I got a
message saying that a start up file was missing.
The file is called aveo.
I can still get into my computer by clicking any key.
Does anyone know what this file is and how can restore it
so that this stops happening?

I wouldn't try putting that file back, its probably what caused the istarthere prob .
At what point does this come up?If its before your Desktop shows, then check your Autoexec.bat and config.sys files and "rem" it out(put rem before the line. You don't actually need either of those files so rename them with a .old ext and see if the error recurs. If the errror appears with the Desktop ,check MSCONFIG for a suspicious entry.

RE: Missing start up file
Actually, after I posted that entry I
tried using Fix-it Utilities 99. It has
a registry fix program.
I ran that and got rid of all the invalid
registry entries and the problem stopped.
Aveo was a shared program with a program
called MegaPhone that I never use.
The problem was occuring before the
desktop appeared. I didn't see my
Norton Virus page. Instead I saw this
error message about the missing file.
When I got rid of all the invalid registry
entries, the Megaphone Program no longer
existed. I don't care.
I believe this fixed the problem since
now the computer boots up without that
error message appearing. If I am wrong
I will post further info and questions.
Thanks for responding and verifying that
I don't need this aveo anymore.
