    game problems

I am having problems playing games such as unreal tournament 2003, return to castle wolfenstein or actually anything. When I first downloaded the game demo everything was fine when I played. Now the game will come up and as soon as I hit a key, it snaps back to the windows screen and reboots because of a fatal error. I have the latest drivers for my video card and also the games worked for a while. What could be causing this? I am starting to hate XP more and more. Thanks

I have a Vaio, Pentium 4 , 1.7Ghz. Hard drive is 80G, 500 something ram. It is definetly powerful enough to play this stuff.

yes it is, some people try to play the stuff on a pent.2 and wonder why it dont work. id check your vidcard settings, could be in there, if all your other applications work, you play with 3d or open gl? plus, you might hit some gaming forums like on guru3d, sometimes you get a better answer with gaming problems. that is one thing about demos though, they aint the whole thing, alot of people dnld them, play them smoothly, and when they install the whole thing it goes to c**p. another suggestion might be the home page of the game maker, sometimes compability problems come up after release and they have answers and or patches. sorry i could not be of more help.

Thanks for your help. When I play the demo I just select 1024 X 768. I dont know if that is open gl or what. Anyway, I did come across a copy of return to castle wolf (full version) and that didnt work either so its not just demos. Thanks

you might run the tests on your directx i can never remember the run command, but you can find it on help and support under directx, theres a link to the diagnostics.
