Download worked fine for me, except changed all my links back to Ms default. If you went with backing up during download you should be able to go back to the way you were.

i got the critical update message this morning on my win 98 explorer 5.5 machine.. But this upgrade is for explorer 6.. What gives? I never installed IE6 on any of my computers and probably never will unless I go to winXP.. So do we ignore that critical update for IE 6 when you have IE5.5 ..? Yes!

MS is saying installing or upgrading to IE6 SP1 is the update, it isn't a critical update for IE6. I am doing the same thing you are, ttodd, ignoring it. I like the little addons MS put out on IE5x, and they do not work on 6. The little things like View Partial Source, Add to Trusted/Restricted under Tools on the toolbar, Highlight, Document Tree.

I think that's what I should have done.....ignored it.......now I have a problem with my computer.......everytime I reboot, I get a message that installing IE6 sp1 didn't finish installation and would I like to continue.......if I say yes, it starts installing then gives me another message that certain components can't be installed because they are not winxp compliant and will not be installed........Can I do a repair on IE and get it back to before I tried the install or should I do a winxp restore?
