    Updating Jetdirect Firmware ??

    Hi i have a problem with a jetdirect card.

    the problem is i cant get it to connect to the network and when i do a configuration test page i get the following.

    *****************

    Hp jet direct - j2552b
    Firmware Revision - a.05.05
    Lan Hw address - 0060b003a2ef
    Port Select - 10base T
    Mfg ID - 3627000703010317

    ================================
    I/O CARD NOT READY : 57
    Incomplete f/w Must download

    then a bit further on in the page i get

    novell status - Disabled (i want this disabled)

    Apple talk - Not in use (also dont want this)

    Tcp/ip - Not in use (I want this have enabled on the printer menu)

    ==================================
    DLC/LLC Status - not in use

    *********************************

    "I/O CARD NOT READY : 57
    Incomplete f/w Must download" what does this mean ? i kinda think it is something to do with the firmware not being installed properly.

    so from what this is saying it means that i need to update(install) the firmware but the only way i seem to be able to do this is using the hp download manager which only wants to use a network connection.

    my question is can i update the firmware through the parallel port ?.

    the printer is a Laserjet 5 si/mx

    hope this makes sense mike

    You should be able to use the printer's control panel (hardware) to enable TCP/IP and/or assign an IP address. This should go along way towards correcting your problem. You'll need the printer manual to do this.

    Here is the configuration page of the printer look at the hp mio (this is the jet direct card config).
