Nothing new , this article of two years ago, talks of what had been suggested THREE years previously.

Seems only logical to use THE biggest networks ever made to pipe internet into peoples' houses. How many people in the UK and most of the "industrial world" don't have electricity?

Technology has made it viable again

LOL. Yup, Power Line Connectivity (or Communication), aka PLC, has been in the works for a while. And why not, one of the biggest hurdles to high speed (and even not so high speed) access over time has been the exisiting infastructure and the costs/troubles to replace it. So they keep coming up with ways to use existing "lines" coming into and running through homes/businesses, taking advantage of unused capacity (bandwidth) opportunities. Electrical lines are just another case of this.

Maybe next they will find a way to to deliver access through sewer or water lines.

does look pretty good but like the articial that putasolutions pointed me to is that they lost bandwidth as soon as a lamp was switched on.

You yuppies are too funny. My CD tray HAS been a cup holder as a joke, until the joke was on me, and the floor, and my foot, etc.

On a more serious note, I recently viewed a web page that described an antenae, er, antenea, er, a thing for getting TV reception that used the wiring in your house, on the same principal as wireless networking, that looked attractive to a lot of people here in this rural area.

Any comments on this method of wireless networking?

Some day they will embed chips in all of us and we will be all roaming antennas.

Those type of systems keep returning every few years. They work to an extent. But if you are looking for over the air reception to be great, you will be buying More expensive gear to get that which you want. Suggest looking into cophasing antennas and preamps. $$$$ though. By the way, with antennas, bigger, if done right is better.

Speakin' of times gone by There was a big deal in the early fifties on how to get the best TV reception when you lived in the boonies(as i did). You would find an ol' set of box springs from a mattress set you threw out.Yu know,,the one out by the ol' Packard that was up on blocks. Take it up into the attic. Connect one "ladder-leadin"(remember those?)wire and connect it to the outside of the frame. Connect the other wire to the coils themselves.(the outside frame was usually insulated from the coils with cardboard or such to stop sqweakin' ) Only one problem with this setup,,,remember how you needed to turn "rabbit ears" to get a better signal? Guess who was assigned the job of turnin' the springs????

Dang it Ma',,,,,that thing is HEAVY !!!!
