computer problem...BLUE screen
I am fairly new to the Computer world, and recently purchased a HP pavillion home pc. I bought a new moniter and had DSL installed, and now I get a Blue screen telling me it is dumping all my memory, plus it says "operating system not found", however I got past that and restored it, but I still keep getting the Blue screen ever so often...when it warms up...the error message in tech help says something about a minidump plus locals and tmp.diroo\sysdata.xml...I have no idea what all that means, but right before I get the Blue screen it starts clunking loud????
HELP!

reply about operating system
Hi John, I am really not very Computer savvy, but by Operating System do you mean Windows xp? Or do you mean the operating system on my PC? I will include what I think you may want me to tell you....The Processor is 1300Mhz, Physical Memory is 128.00MB,Virtual mem is 380.20MB and that is all I know to tell you , I am sorry for not knowing more about what you are asking me.

Hi Marrrlee,
This one may not be as easy to solve as some problems are. The "clunking sound" makes me think that there may possibly be a problem with the hard drive, and you seem to indicate that the problem is intermittent.
I'd try defragging the hard drive. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Defragmenter. Let us know how that goes for you.
