How to update GeForce drivers in 98se?
Running Win 98se.
Have installed GeForce 3 Ti 200. Video Card
Driver- nvdisp.drv - version is 27.50 (4.13.01.2750)
Have downloaded and unzipped to unzip folder updated
version 28.32.
How or what actuall installs this update. Do I have to remove the 2 instances in add\remove or just find the executable file and click? There are two."exe's" in the unzip folder but both do not start an update procedure.
Stuck... Thanks for any help. This is a worthwhile update, yes?

You probably do not have to uninstall the old drivers. Just click on the exe that starts the update and that ought to do the trick. Once you click on the exe just follow the prompts. Hope this helps!

There is DMCPL.EXE that just pops up a desktop manager box to use hotkeys.etc. and a "nwiz.exe" that is to add an nView desktop enhancement.
And no directions from the D/L site. "Gainward"
Thanks. Any suggestions?

What I'd do is open the exe's, then delete the former drivers, reboot and then point WIN98 to the NEW Drivers or "force" by going to the Manager.
Can't you just go to the Device Mgr and then the Display adapter and update the driver from there?

Thanks for the reply.
The .exe's are not installers. The only 2 are the ones mentioned in the above post and their functions are just desktop enhancement programs.
Also trying to update the drivers by clicking driver update and directing it to the unzip folder gave message no file could be found.
Weird.
Did find an even more updated self executing (thats the key) update at Nvidia (29.42). Nividia stated best to get from Gainward because of added features. These seem to be working for now.
Still dont get the no setup exe in the Gainward update.
Maybe I'll call and or try an email to support later.
If anyone has actually got this update to work, please post how.
Thanks for the help.

From the Nvidia site.
How do I install the NVIDIA Detonator drivers for Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP?
Windows 95 does not offer native AGP support. If you are installing an AGP graphics card on Windows 95, then we suggest updating your Windows 95 to the latest Service Pack, which adds supports for AGP. Contact Microsoft for information on how to obtain this. If you are installing the drivers on Windows NT4, make sure you are running at least Service Pack 5. Older Service Packs will not work with our drivers. You do not need to worry about this for Windows 98, Me, 2000 or XP.
The NVIDIA Detonator drivers are self-installing drivers. This makes it very easy for end-users to upgrade their drivers to the latest version. Simply download the appropriate drivers from the NVIDIA Web site at www.nvidia.com, and save the file to your hard drive. Make sure you are not running any download utilities in the background. This tends to corrupt the drivers if not disabled.
Once the file is on your hard drive, disable any anti-virus programs running in the background. Certain anti-virus programs will prevent you from making any changes to your system files and can corrupt your drivers. Once you have prepared your system for the driver installation, simply run the drivers you have downloaded by double-clicking on the file. The drivers will automatically update your current drivers and make the necessary changes to your system. If you are running Windows NT4, it will ask you which graphics card you are installing. This is because Windows NT4 cannot correctly detect your graphics card make and model. Once the drivers have been installed, Windows will ask you to restart your computer to complete the changes. Allow Windows to restart. Once you are back in Windows, you are done with the driver installation.

Buffalo, sorry my post wasnt clear. I stated I did get the Nvidia site driver update because they were self-installing. So no problem there.
I was trying to update with the "Gainward" driver update. 28.32.
Go to Gainward, com D/L the 28.32driver update, unzip it and find the installer.
Thanks for the reminder to email Gainward support. Even though the Detonator drivers seem to be working ok, Gainward states their drivers should be used with their products due to extra features. Dont know.
Appreciate the help.

Your post was clear, I just misread.
Those drivers are not self-installing.
You said you unzipped the 28.32 drivers. There is an Nvaml.ini file there and that is what is needed for the install.
Shut down all running programs and then
end task all remaining programs except Explorer. Go into Display Properties,Adapter,Change,Next, Show all, display all, Standard Display - Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) and finish. Do not reboot yet.
Now go into Add_- Remove and uninstall any Display Adapter Drivers listed and, when done, exit out and reboot.
Now End Task on all programs except Explorer and go back into Display Properties, Adapter and when you get to 'Show all hardware', pick out the proper one and select 'Have Disk', Browse.
Point it to the folder that contains the Nvaml.ini file and OK and the drivers should install. Re-boot when told to and then you will have to re-adjust your color depth and resolution and refresh rate.
If it doesn't work, dl the drivers again in case they were corrupted.
Sometimes it possible to just go into Device Manager and update the drivers there, but it doesn't always do a clean install.
Whew !!
PS: The Nvaml.ini file is the key (I think).
If you open that file, you will see all the instructions that it gives.
