I can't remove AudioGalaxy from my computer!!

    Hi,
I have a spyware-free version of AudioGalaxy on my computer which also has a different ui.dll file in it. It has always worked fine.
I tried to remove it today and add/remove programs said an error occurred and it may have already been uninstalled! All of the files and the satelite are still on my computer! I went into the program and found this uninstall.log:

    IDS_YESTOALL=Yes to &All

Why does it say Administrative privileges are needed to uninstall this software? This is a home computer. Could there be something in the registry preventing me from uninstalling it?

I can put the original AG ui.dll in this program but I don't want to complicate anything, and I have no idea if that would help or not.

Does anyone know how I can remove AG?

    Thanks very much.
    Sincerely, Nancy

I can recommend using Adaware form Lavasoft. It is free, and it removed all my Spyware

If you've still got the original installation files, try reinstalling AudioGalaxy, reboot, then uninstall.

    Edit:

Make sure that it's reinstalled into the same directory that it's currently installed in.

Cliff, thanks for your advice. I reinstalled it (unfortunately I didn't reboot afterwards). I used add/remove and it said it successfully removed it - the satelite is gone but the folder and files are still in Windows Explorer.

Then I looked in the registry. I have three urls re AG in Internet Explorer and I have this in HKey_Users_Default\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Menu Order\Start Menu...an open AudioGalaxy file is on the left and on the right is Default and Order.
So what do I do now? Do I delete the files in Windows first and how do I delete that HKey file - do I first delete the two things on the right and then the folder on the left? I guess I can leave the urls in there.
    Thanks for your help.
    Sincerely, Nancy

OR should I install it again and reboot before uninstalling?

Since it's reported as successfully uninstalled, you should be able to delete the files without any repercussions.

I'd move the files and/or directory into another directory for a couple of days - maybe into a \Temp directory. If you don't get any "missing file" errors, delete the directory.

The registry entry looks as if it's only referencing the program group on the Start - Programs menu. Deleting the program group itself won't have any affect on anything, except the group won't be on the Programs menu anymore.

You may have to remove entries thru the Registry. I cannot say for sure that this is YOUR particular dilemna, but it looks like there are some embedded files in the Registry.

Removing registry entries are not difficult but for 1st timers they can be intimidating.
If you need further help, ask.

Hmm, wouldn't let me edit my message! Strange.

Anyway, go to START> RUN> enter REGEDIT.
When Regedit is enabled, go to EDIT and run a search.

Run a search for ANYTHING that relates to AUDIOGALAXY and that includes it's Parent Company's name.

Then you can safely delete those entries.

Cliff, thank you so much for your help with this. Prophet, thank you for your reassurances. I have fully removed AG now - I deleted the folder and files from Windows Explorer into my Recycle bin and I deleted that one AG key in the registry. I also searched for AGSatelite.exe in Windows and Registry - and found nothing. It's gone and the computer seems fine (I restarted it to be sure). Thank you again.
