DNS Configuration for DCPROMO

Hi,

Can someone please tell me if there are any specific DNS settings i require in order to use DCPROMO at the moment when i run DCPROMO it is failing.

My NETBIOS Domain name is entirelty different from the FQDN does this make any difference?
As i read a Micrsoft Document that said the NETBIOS name should be the first word in the FQDN?

Any help is very greatfully appreciated.

Hi!

Presuming you already have a DNS server on your network, you need to check that its zones have been configured to enable dynamic updates.

Not sure about the effect of differing NetBIOS vs FQDN names though.
