Search and replace on multiple files

I'm sure I've done this in the past but can't remember how.

I need to replace a text string that appears in all files in a folder. By actual count, I have 31 editors installed but none appear to do what I need.

(Off topic: I know 31 is absurd but the best for HTML [HTML Kit] is different than the best for assembly language [PFE], or Java [GWDEditor], ... not to mention a [Hex Editor]. And the count doesn't include MS Word and its clones [602 Text] [Star Office]).

(Just remembered the DOS editor. That's 32. No wonder I can't remember how to search multiple files).

NoteTab Pro has a feature to do that. It's in the Search menu. If you use NoteTab Lite (freeware) you can temporarily activate that feature by going to View/Commercial Features.

Arachnophilia also has a Find/Replace that works with multiple files but they have to be opened first.
