gblon, did you get your CDROM drive working yet?
I tried to check up on your thread about the CDROM drive not being detected in the BIOS, but it seems to have disappeared for some reason.
I just wanted to know if correcting the error on your MSCDEX.EXE line resolved the "Illegal Option" message you were receiving.
(For those who are confused

I tried it as a Prmery slave and then switched the hook up to Secondary master went back into the Bios and used Auto detection both ways and it won't detect!
When the driver loads with a Boot disk it detects the drive(Have tried more then one drive by the way),But then it says Illegal option and bypasses it from what I see on the screen.
Dosen't the drive still need to be reconized in the BIOs to work?
Because it isn't so I thought that is the root of the problem.

One of the things that comes to mind is that there is an invalid switch on the MSCDEX.EXE line. I have seen people trying to change the /D:MSCD001 into /E:MSCD001 or other letters, believing that changes the drive letter assignment. It does not. /D: is for "Device Name", /E: specifies the use of expanded memory. Misuse of the /E: switch may result in the message "Expanded memory not present or unavailable" depending on DOS version, or it may just give the illegal option message.
Other valid switches are:
- /M:n where n is the number of sector buffers.
/V Verbose reporting
/S Share the drive over an MS-NET
/K Use Kanji file structures instead of standard alphanumeric structures (if Kanji is present.
/L:? Where ? is replaced by the drive letter you wish to assign the drive.
It's not necessary for a CDROM drive to be detected by the BIOS to work.
Perhaps you should do the Step-By-Step confirmation and see what reports "Illegal Option." You say that "When the driver loads with a Boot disk it detects the drive"-- therefore the BIOS is not the issue.
If it is MSCDEX reporting the illegal option, post the command line for MSCDEX.EXE from your AUTOEXEC.BAT in a reply so we can analyze it for errors. Again, if you have changed the /D:MSCD001 to a different letter (like /E:MSCD001 etc) then change that back to a D.
