New video card, new problem
A couple weeks after installing a Radeon VE 7000 video card my (1999yr.)HP monitor now shows a message, at every boot up, stating: "Self Diagnosis...Display Settings Correct?"...and then proceeds to work fine.
Anything to check or try?
The new card came with a new computer (custom). Thanks for any advise.

Check the settings for the different resolutions and their respective refresh rates in Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/Adapter, and make sure that each resolution's refresh rate does not exceed the monitor's specs.
If all of the refresh rates are at or below spec, then you're ok and it's possible that your hp system has some sort of built in program to remind one to check the display properties when it detects that a new video card has been installed.

Thanks ski. Starting to believe I was the only one who could see my post.
Anyway, thanks for the advise. Will do.
(btw) This is a new custom computer...using my old HP monitor. Went from HP 333 to 1800XP. And from 4mb shared video to 32mb RadeonVE. (using "optimal" setting) Hope the monitor is compatible. Works ok, just the annoying message on bootup.
Thanks again.

You did say that the computer is a custom build in your first post. I missed that. Sorry.
If the monitor's make and model is not shown in Display/Settings and it's listed as either 'Plug n Play' or 'Unknown Monitor', then it's possible that the video card's optimal refresh rate settings for each resolution may exceed the monitor's specs, and if so this will damage the monitor.
Use the monitor's controls/buttons to see which refresh rates are being used for the different resolutions that you use, and compare them to the monitor's specs. If the ref. rates exceed the specs, then reduce them.
