    dual independent display problems

I have just bought an ATI Radeon VE 32 DDR video card.....most aspects of this card meet or exceed my expectations.....however I would like to be able to send dvd video to the secondary monitor which is a tv that I have connected the s-video out of my card to the vcr via a s-video to rca adapter cable.....I can see the video fine on my monitor but when I switch it to the tv I just get a blank screen......any ideas?
