VCACHE!!
SYSOFT SANDRA tells my to Increase my Disk Cache 25% of System ram. At Moment its Max 55Mbt Min 21Mbt. My Memory Ram is 512Mbt DDRram Win 98se. Went to C:Windows\System and entered under[VCACHE] MiniFileCache=51200 MaxFileCache=56320 So Where do I go to alter VCACHE so I can stop my stupid Comp from telling me 'Not Enough Memory'etc, etc, etc.,Thanks All. yours,Dennis

with 512 megs of ram you should almost never get to the virtual memory....I would suggest taking some of the ram out of the machine...back down to say 256mb and set the min at 256 and let windows manage the max and see if that helps you out......

Sounds like we're confusing vcache (disk cache allotment) and virtual memory (swapfile).
Your vcache settings aren't gonna be causing your out of memory errors. The vcache settings you listed (from system.ini) have the min cache size set to 10% of your ram and the max set to about 11%. If you want to change those fine. The 25% that Sandra suggests is just a common "suggestion".
But if your trying to change your swapfile size (virtual memory) then that's done in windows. Right click on My Computer, select Properties, the Performance tab, then the Virtual Memory button. But with 512 of ram you should just let windows manage the swapfile. In fact, the swapfile may not even be being used (or much) with that amount of ram.
Where/when are you getting these out of memory messages? What are you running that's giving problems?

Hi DrMDJ, I put in an extra 256Mbt DDR now512MbtDDRram Went Here and did this.--C:\Windows\System.ini [VCACHE]MiniFileCache=51200 MaxFileCache=56320 as I was told to do so. System going OK, then useing 3 programs=3windows open they stoped working and said out of memory etc etc. So I did a Sysoft Sandra and it said Increase Max HDisk Cache 25% of System Cache your Max is 55Mbt Min 21Mbt to low. Windows is manageing SwapFile at moment.Going for 3hours now and no probs. It is Wierd. ypurs Dennis
